I got this tutorial from my newest fellow bloggie friend, Suma. She is The Fashion Beauty Junkie (TFBJ for short) living in the one and only NYC! GF is crazy gorgeous and stylish. I encourage you all to check out her amazing blog {here}!
I loved Suma’s purple glitter sunnies so much that I wanted to make my own. The only reason why I committed to this DIY craft is:
- Glitter is involved.
- It’s easy.
So, with that in mind… lets get started!
- Sunnies ($12.99 from Target)
- Mod Podge ($4.99 from Hobby Lobby)
- Glitter ($2.99 from Hobby Lobby)
- Foam Brush (I got 8 of them for $1.99 at Hobby Lobby)
Start with a clean surface to ensure that the glue will stick properly. I wiped down with a cotton ball and isopropyl alcohol.
Apply a generous layer of the Mod Podge. I just swiped it on to each side of the frame.
My glitter came in a container where I was able to just shake it over the glue (similar to a salt and pepper shaker). I did this set over a piece of printer paper so I could pour the excess glitter back into the container. Wait 15-20 minutes for the glue to set.
Apply a generous layer of glue over the glitter to seal it. I used more of a patting motion to do this so I wouldn’t remove the glitter particles. I packed this on pretty thick because I didn’t want the glitter to come off when wearing them. Let it set for at least 12 hours before wearing.
Again, thank you Suma for this amazing tutorial! I love my glitter sunnies, I get compliments of them all of the time, thanks to you!
What do you guys think of these? Will you be making your own glitter sunglasses for the summer?
