My color treated heat ridden hair is always looking for some extra R&R. When regular shampoo and conditioner just won’t cut it, I seek a deep conditioning treatment. The Parnevu Hair Mayonnaise is a treatment for weak, damaged hair enriched with olive oil, egg protein, and African herbs.
My first impression: the scent. It’s a very strong fragrance, I think it smells like coconut. The consistency is a thick cream.
I used it as a deep conditioning treatment in the shower, leaving on for 10 minutes underneath a shower cap. I used a palm full to completely saturate my long (mid-lower back) thick hair. Make sure to rinse well, any leftover residue may leave the hair feeling greasy. After rinsing and drying (I tried it with air drying and blow drying) my hair feels soft, smooth, and moisturized.
For daily use, Parnevu says to rub a small amount into palms and spread from roots to ends, then style as usual. I rubbed a nickel sized amount through my hair (from mid to ends, my roots get greasy) and it I expected it to weigh my hair down. In reality, it didn’t at all. It just gave my hair a little bit of a moisture boost. The scent was detectable at first, but faded after about 10 minutes. My biggest complaint is the fragrance, it’s too strong for me (even though it eventually fades).
Overall
This is a nice inexpensive deep moisturizing treatment. It does contain some less than desirable ingredients (see ingredients list in post). However, it still proves to be a good conditioning treatment for anyone with dry, brittle, or color treated hair. Personally, I dislike the scent and it’s a bit too strong for my liking.
